Responsible for editing various full-length programs including episodes for HGTV's New Spaces, a variety of corporate pieces and a series of educational programs on the Branches of Government. Used a critical eye and ear while editing in order to identify good material, bad material, glitches on source footage and continuity errors. Attention to detail was a crucial part of the job. Required to routinely be the last person to view the work before it was presented to the client.
Broadview Media, Chicago, Illinois ~ April 1996 - April 1998
As an assistant editor I did more than create Chyron graphics to suit the client's exact needs, as an assistant editor I was responsible for making sure the edit session ran smoothly. I kept everything (tapes, graphics, stills, etc...) organized so the session was never slowed down. After an edit I did just about anything else that needed to be done from filling an assortment of dub requests (1", 3/4", VHS, Betacam, BetaSP, DigiBeta, etc...) to preparing for up/downlinks via satellite or fiber optics to scanning and touching up logos using the Graphic Department's Macintosh computers. The job of an assistant editor is to be a jack of all trades and to help out whenever and wherever it is needed. I also trained all new assistant editors.
Post-Newsweek Cable, Highland Park, Illinois ~ 1989 - 1996

Additional Responsibilities:
As Studio Director I supervised all public access productions. Conducted classes on the use of 3/4" portable and studio equipment as well as 3/4" editing. Made sure equipment was available and in working order for those who passed these classes. Updated advertising commercial reels for local commercial insertion. Assisted with the production of commercials and various local origination programs.
As Production Assistant I was responsible for shooting and editing various local commercials. I assisted in the productions of local origination programs and I was also responsible for master control in the headend for 10 educational, governmental and local access channels.
